ENJOY YOUR CLEANSE BY FOLLOWING THESE SIMPLE TIPS!
Some things to know before you get started…
If you drink coffee, try to cut back your intake 1-3 days before your cleanse. This helps reduce “caffeine withdrawals” that may cause headaches and irritability on the first day or two.
Don’t binge eat/drink before or after your cleanse. You’ll only increase the likelihood of cravings or reverting back to old habits once your cleanse is done.
Start each day with a cup of warm water with a squeeze of lemon. It helps wake up your digestive system and balance your body’s alkalinity. Add a slice of ginger for an extra immunity boost.
Drink your juices at 2-3 hour intervals to ward off cravings and sustain your energy. “Chew” your juice as much as possible - swishing the juice around in your mouth before swallowing gives it the chance to mix with digestive enzymes in your saliva and speed up your body’s intake of all those vital nutrients!
You may experience some discomfort such as achi-ness and mild flu-like symptoms at the outset of your cleanse. Drinking lots of water in between juices is essential to help flush toxins from your body as they are released.
It’s ok to exercise but don’t overdo it! If you are feeling fatigued, skip it. Opt for a relaxing sauna or steam to further stimulate release of toxins through the skin.
Take a warm bath with epsom salts each evening. Magnesium sulfate stimulates digestive enzymes and aids with the elimination of toxins from your system. It’s also soothing and great for your skin!
The day after your cleanse, ease back into normal eating gently. Start your day with warm water and lemon, and eat fruit until noon. Keep lunch light and preferably plant-based - salad, steamed vegetables, or vegetable soup is ideal. Dinner can consist of some protein or a starch, with steamed vegetables and a salad.
Depending on the duration of your cleanse, you will begin to notice an increase in energy levels, mental clarity, improved complexion and overall well-being. You may also notice a dramatic decrease in your desire for un-healthy foods.
Keep the momentum going by incorporating 1-2 cold-pressed juices into your every day diet and replacing processed foods with unprocessed, plant-based alternatives. Doing so supports your body’s ongoing natural detoxification and elimination processes and frees up energy that your system can divert to repair, renewal and disease prevention.
